It's almost halloweeeen~

Anyways, this is just a random update journal.

Recently I've been listening to a lot of Spanish music. I...don't really know why. I just am. The best thing is that I can actually understand bits of it. It's awesome.

Also, I know I'm late and there are already 8 episodes out, but I'm obsessssssed with Glee. Ffff.

Soyeah haha. That's it.

WAZZZUPPP, people?

I Survived Camp Alleghany 2009

Thu Aug 13, 2009, 9:19 AM
YESSS. It's the huge camp-related post pretty much the entire world's been waiting for!

Things I survived:

-Hurricane Alleghany
-Hurricane Alleghany's cousin
-The Plague of CA
-Stabbed arms
-Beanies and Weenies

YESSS

So I went for 6 weeks (aka two terms) this year, right? First term was fun, pretty normal as far as terms go.

Tent 3:

Counselor: Katie Lynne
Campers: Me, Layne, Lilly, and MARIA MARIAAA~

I remember's:
MARIA MARIAAA~ SE GUSTAN LOS HUEVOS~ TODOS LOS DIAS EN SU CASAAA~ Ah AH MARIA MARIAAA~
"She's not as lovey and squishy anymore" "No, she's just as squishy"
"Hey, I see you're a ginger. Are you Jamaican? No? Cuz Jamaican me love you~~"

And so First Term ended rather peacefully. I cried a lot.

And then came SECOND TERM.

It seemed to start out pretty normal.

Tent 13:

Counselor: Grace
Campers: Me, Ellen, and Celeste

I remember's:
The Terrapin, the Buccaneer, the Purple Cow, and the Purple Lemur
Celeste the Bug Goddess

HOWEVER

One fateful night we were all in the Playhall. When all of a sudden it started getting reallly windy. And the play hall has a lot of just plain screen windows. The wind was blowing straight at us. And then came the RAIN. And it was CRAZY. It was in like WAVES because of the wind and SO SCARY.

The counselor's all rain out to tack tents and make sure stuff wasn't getting wet. It wasn't too successful. Two tents in senior camp had to sleep in the Infirmary and Cottage because their beds had blown out and were all wet, and all of Junior camp had to sleep in the Playhall because so much stuff was wet. Oh yeah, and around 4 tents had completely collapsed.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot.

A HUGE FRICKIN' PINE TREE FELL ON ONE OF THE SENIOR TENTS. Luckily it was an empty tent, but still! THERE WAS A TREE. ON A TENT. WHAT.

So after that things went pretty normal again. Then a couple people started to get sick with fevers and coughing and such, but it wasn't too bad, it was only about four people, my little sister being one of them. They all recovered in about 3 days (except for one girl who had to get shipped out to the hospital for blood tests and antibiotics, but she came back eventually).

So we didn't think anything of it. Until more people started getting sick.

Now, the infirmary isn't very big. There are three beds in there, and then another little cot. So, 4 people max can sleep in there.

Well, there was more than 4 people sick. Eventually they gave up and spilled the sickies into one of the empty tents on the end of Senior camp. And then into another empty tent. But more people are getting sick.

So they take all of Unit 1 Senior camp and shift them into the empty tents at the beginning of Unit 2. There are now 4 sick tents with 4-5 people in each, and then 4 in the infirmary.

...IT WAS THE SCARIEST AND MOST INTENSE THING EVER.

When you walked past Unit 1 it was like walking past all these deathbeds. There were girls in there completely conked out, or coughing a lung out.

Around 5 people went home because they were sick. One girl, a 13, started out with 3 campers including her in her tent. She spent the whole last week and a half with just her and her counselor.

And then came the Drama and Dance shows. Now with Dance it's not that bad, you just adjust choreography and such and such. But Drama.

Oh, Drama.

In the J-camp plays:
Missing: One main character, one king, one grandma, one butler, one teenage girl.

In the S-camp plays:
Missing: One teenage girl

And who are the stand-ins? None other than counselors and Green team boys (aka the only boys in camp. They're wimps and do nothing, and yet get paid like crazy. And they don't shower.)

So in J-Camp:
Stand-ins (in order of characters above): One drama counselor, one green team boy, one head of archery, one assistant head of s-camp/upstart mom, and one green team boy (who somehow fit into this tiny blue and white dress).

In S-Camp:
Stand-ins: One drama counselor.

And then one of the last days we were all at breakfast in the dining hall. And it starts raining. And gets windy. And rains some more. And gets more windy. Now it had been drizzling that morning so we had all brought our raincoats, so they were all hanging off the dining hall porch's banister. And now they were FLYING OFF THE BANISTER.

Luckily the counselors ran outside and got the raincoats inside, and then shut the windows (which were screen and had this wooden cover that was usually propped up. They hadn't been covered in so long that huge strips of dried paint flaked off once they touched them). And then kept us in the Dininghall for an extra 20 minutes. When we left we saw branches everywhere, RAINCOATS IN THE TREES, and pretty much the same stuff that had happened from the first storm.

IT. WAS. INTENSE.

MOST INTENSE SUMMER EVER.

And then I shot through 3 positions in Rifle in three weeks (aka 10 40's in prone, 10 40's in sitting, 10 40's in kneeling), got the biggest drama award you can get, and ended it all never getting sick or my stuff getting wet.

Success?

Very yes.
